The North Carolina State Fair is an 11-day event that takes place annually in October in a spot that’s not far from the NC State campus. Every year, the organizers jam pack the event with plenty of activities, such as a miniature horse show, stilt walking, a living statue, a wild west horse show, a peanut butter and jelly tasting contest, and even a goat showmanship contest. They also set aside special days for discounts or for charity. There’s a senior citizen day, a military appreciation day, and the Food Lion Hunger Relief Day. And on one of the Friday nights, students who show their university ID at the gate can get into the fair for $5.
